AND now there was no more contention in all the land ofZarahemla, among all the people who belonged to kingBenjamin, so that king Benjamin had continual peace all theremainder of his days.MormonLand ofZarahemla280 to 124 B.C.2 And it came to pass that he had three sons; and he calledtheir names Mosiah, and Helorum, and Helaman. And hecaused that they should be taught in all the language of hisfathers, that thereby they might become men ofunderstanding; and that they might know concerning theprophecies which had been spoken by the mouths of theirfathers, which were delivered them by the hand of the Lord.3 And he also taught them concerning the records whichwere engraven on the plates of brass, saying:My sons, I would that ye should remember that were it not forthese plates, which contain these records and thesecommandments, we must have suffered in ignorance, even at thispresent time, not knowing the mysteries of God. 4 For it were notpossible that our father, Lehi, could have remembered all thesethings, to have taught them to his children, except it were for thehelp of these plates; for he having been taught in the language ofthe Egyptians therefore he could read these engravings, and teachthem to his children, that thereby they could teach them to theirchildren, and so fulfilling the commandments of God, even downto this present time. 5 I say unto you, my sons, were it not for thesethings, which have been kept and preserved by the hand of God,that we might read and understand of his mysteries, and have hiscommandments always before our eyes, that even our fatherswould have dwindled in unbelief, and we should have been likeunto our brethren, the Lamanites, who know nothing concerningthese things, or even do not believe them when they are taughtthem, because of the traditions of their fathers, which are notcorrect.King Benjamin6 O my sons, I would that ye should remember that these sayingsare true, and also that these records are true. And behold, also theplates of Nephi, which contain the records and the sayings of ourfathers from the time they left Jerusalem until now, and they aretrue; and we can know of their surety because we have thembefore our eyes. 7 And now, my sons, I would that ye shouldremember to search them diligently, that ye may profit thereby;and I would that ye should keep the commandments of God, thatye may prosper in the land according to the promises which theLord made unto our fathers. 8 And many more things did king Benjamin teach his sons, which are not written in this book.MormonLand ofZarahemla280 to 124 B.C.
